The Theme of the 2015 Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute gala was China: Through The Looking Glass – so with that in mind I have chosen my favorite dresses based on the brave soles who read and understood the memo and executed that vision. I am thinking Theatrics. This is NOT the Oscars, it’s not the place to play it safe!
My Favorites:
Rhianna (Guo Pei)
The moment I saw RiRi in this yellow number my mouth dropped and I was in awe. ONLY RiRi could wear this. The fact that 3 people helped her ascend the throne of the steps says it all.
SJP (designed in collaboration with H&M) ( Headgear by Philip Treacy)
The dress is absolutely stunning but its the over the top headgear that I am absolutely wild about.
Kathie Holmes (Zac Posen)
Her Bob haircut and the gown just beautiful!
Amal Clooney (John Galliano for Masion Margiela)
Not many people can pulled off this look but the newly minted Mrs. Clooney did just that!
Zendaya Coleman (Fausto Puglisi)
The accessories and lopsided train mini made this number stand out
Solange Knowles (Giles Deacon)
As my intro stated this is NOT the Oscars, I like the theatrics of this number!
Chloe Moretz (Coach)
A simply cute dress
Carey Mulligan (Balenciaga)
An absolutely stunning dress!
Lily Aldridge ( Carolina Herrera))
Breathtaking!
Dianna Agron (Tory Burch)
One of my absolute faves
Karolina Kurkova (Tommy Hilfiger)
Simple and fantastic..Definitely understood the theme of the night!
Lily Collins (Chanel couture)
Beautiful…love the florals
Karen Elson (Dolce & Gabbana)
Again sticking with the theme…LOVE this over the top bad ass frock!
Lady Gaga is known for her outrageous outfits and style but here at the Met Gala her outfit is appropriate.
Fan Bingbing in a Christopher Bu gown.
Liya Kebede with Phillip Lim — Love this
Special Mention:
Lisa Bonet
Because well I don’t get to see her often and she’s just about the coolest lady ever!!
