Karol G brought a little bit of Colombia to the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show runway.
The Colombian superstar joined fellow recording artists Missy Elliott, TWICE, and Madison Beer in headlining the lingerie brand’s recently rebooted runway event. For the special night, Karol G wore a long-sleeved lace catsuit in a blazing red hue, paired with a draping skirt with a thigh-high leg, while her hair was styled in a sleek blowout. She performed her hit songs “Ivonny Bonita” and “Latina Forever” as supermodels Bella Hadid and Alex Consani served their strongest struts down the catwalk. After her performance, she reemerged on the stage to take her own walk down the length of the runway, swapping her skirt for a pair of her very own scarlet wings.
Karol G’s Victoria’s Secret debut comes after a whirlwind year. Earlier this year, she released her a Netflix documentary, Mañana Fue Bonito (Tomorrow Was Beautiful), in which she detailed her journey through putting on the first Latina-led stadium concert tour in history. Soon after, she also released her fifth studio album Tropicoqueta which embraced traditional sounds that stem from across the Latin diaspora like dembow, cumbia, reggaeton, and more.
“Every day you wake up thinking about the future, what’s gonna be your next step, what’s gonna be the next thing to do, and maybe you don’t always have the time to stop a little bit and remember how far you’ve come from the beginning,” the singer told Harper’s Bazaar earlier this year about her Netflix documentary. “That was the most beautiful and important thing for me about this documentary—it gave me this different perception of everything that [I’m experiencing] right now. I feel even like more inspired and more motivated for what’s come.”
