(NewsNation) — Beyoncé and Kendrick Lamar have earned Emmy nominations ahead of the 77th annual Primetime Emmys ceremony.
Lamar’s Super Bowl 59 halftime show was nominated for four awards: Outstanding Variety Special (Live), Outstanding Directing for a Variety Special, Outstanding Music Direction and Outstanding Choreography (Variety/Reality).
The Roc Nation-produced performance amassed a record audience of 133.5 million viewers, and featured Lamar’s hit songs including “Not Like Us” and “luther” featuring SZA, who was also part of the performance. The rapper won an Emmy in 2022 for the Super Bowl 56 halftime show that featured Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Dr. Dre, 50 Cent and Mary J. Blige.
Beyoncé is up against Lamar for an Emmy in the Outstanding Variety Special (Live) category for her halftime performance during the NFL Christmas Day matchup between the Baltimore Ravens and Houston Texans.
Both artists are currently on tour. Kendrick Lamar and SZA are on their international “Grand National Tour,” which wrapped up its North American dates in June, while Beyoncé is on her “Cowboy Carter” tour.
The Emmy Awards ceremony will take place Sept. 25.
