Not only did Rihanna soft launch her third pregnancy with a rainy photoshoot pre Met Gala, she also closed down the red carpet an hour late (true to form!) for an show-stopping, Marc Jacobs-clad baby bump reveal.

The Grammy winner wore a gray bustier with a black floor-length skirt and cropped black jacket — all Marc Jacobs, who also designed her heels, tie and hat (with milliner Stephen Jones).

Diana Ross

She’s coming out! For her first trip to the Met Gala in over 20 years (!), Diana Ross made the entrance of all entrances in a Ugo Mozie gown that featured an 18-foot train (that required six helpers) embroidered with her children and grandchildren’s names. The 81-year-old icon hit the red carpet alongside her sone Evan, 36, and, in the words of Vogue red carpet livestream host La La Anthony, “shut the whole carpet down.”

“Well, there was not a plan. Everything was really, really at last moment. My son persuaded me, ’cause I’m actually on tour,” the iconic musician told Anthony of attending the event.

Colman Domingo

As one of fashion’s biggest inspirations right now and a co-chair this year, Colman Domingo packed two looks in one for his Met moment. He first stepped out on the red carpet wearing a dramatic bright blue pleated cape from Valentino (he’s an ambassador for the brand) featuring an embellished collar. The arrival paid tribute in part to late fashion journalist André Leon Talley, with a cape reminiscent to the silk kaftan the Vogue editor wore to the event in 2011, among other references.

On Vogue‘s live stream with Ego Nwodim and Teyana Taylor, he described additional inspiration as “Othello the moor, kings, the color blue — a color that, when we were doing our research … [we found] a free slave wanted to wear his finest blue, superfine wool suit. It gives you choir, it gives you king, all those moments.”

He then ditched the cape to reveal a second impeccably tailored Valentino look underneath, which included polka dot necktie, a polka dot flower on his lapel and and a windowpane plaid jacket teamed with gray trousers.

Teyana Taylor

Teyana Taylor teamed with Oscar-winning costume designer Ruth E. Carter (the visionary behind the Black Panther films) on her symbolic look, which included a tailor-made pinstripe suit and extravagant padded cape with the words “Harlem rose” stitched in at the train. She teamed the with a statement hat and cane.

Jodie Turner-Smith

The star made her mark on the 2025 Met Gala Red Carpet in a custom Burberry look that takes its inspiration from a Belle Époch-era equestrian.

According to a Burberry, Turner’s burgundy leather outfit and top hat pay “homage to a portrait of Selina Lazevski, a Black Equestrian who lived during the Belle Époch in Paris and was photographed by Paul Nader in 1891.”

Whoopi Goldberg

Whoopi put her spin on the “Tailored for You” dress code in a Thom Browne look featuring a coat covered in 350,000 matte white sequins worn over a duchess satin raglan-sleeve tailored dress teamed with a a top hat in wool bouclé from the fall 2015 archive.

Doechii

For her debut Met Gala appearance, the “Denial is a River” artist, 26, rounded out a breakthrough year looking confident in a Louis Vuitton shorts suit that she collaborated on with Pharrell Williams, who is not only the label’s men’s creative director but also one of the evening’s co-chairs.

Doechii’s ensemble featured checkered Bermuda shorts and cropped monogrammed blazer. She wore a white button-up shirt underneath, accessorized with a maroon bow tie that matched her calf-length socks and Mary Jane shoes. Her hair was styled in an afro.

Zendaya

After watching and fangirling over Diana Ross on the carpet ahead of her, Zendaya, 28, had her moment in a custom, three-piece Louis Vuitton suit, designed by Pharrell Williams, complete with a matching tie, wide-brimmed hat and sparkling Bulgari brooch pinned below her back collar.

She opted for a red manicure for a pop of color and her sparkling engagement ring from Tom Holland took center stage.

A$AP Rocky

A 2025 Met Gala co-chair (and soon to be dad of three!), the rapper embodied the “Superfine” theme in a long black jacket with large lapels and a gem-studded umbrella. According to Vogue, the rapper wore a custom look from his creative agency, AWGE. He paired his wool outerwear with a crisp white buttoned shirt, black wool trousers and a black vest.

Rocky accessorized with a black necktie and black Oxford shoes. Vogue reported that the shoes were made in collaboration between AWGE and Christian Louboutin. He also wore silver jewelry – a necklace, earrings and a dramatic brooch – by Bulgari.

Demi Moore

PEOPLE’s World’s Most Beautiful cover star interpreted this year’s theme quite literally in a Thom Browne gown made to look like a men’s tie.

The Substance actress, 62, paired her look with a pair of black-and-white pom-pom heels.

According to Vogue, the garment boasted over 1,400,000 beads — including 22,000 pieces of black rectangle sequins, 103,500 pieces of black cut beads, and 1,093,500 pieces of black bugle beads. It took more than 7,600 hours to make.

Tyson Beckford

The star turned to his “family” at Ralph Lauren to design his custom Ralph Lauren Purple Label tuxedo, featuring a double breasted cream dinner jacket, tuxedo shirt, pant, bowtie and velvet slippers. This marked a full circle moment as the brand helped launch his career with his iconic 1994 Polo Sport campaign that made him a household name and led to his supermodel superstardom.

“It’s a dandy meets James Bond,” he told PEOPLE of the look ahead of the evening. “That’s the best description I can give you without giving it away. It’s very elegant, very clean, very Ralph. As soon as the team showed it to me, I was like, ‘That’s it!’

Doja Cat

For her third-ever Met Gala, Doja Cat went big — big cats, that is.

“There’s certain prints that I hold close and dear to me,” she told Vogue of her structured pinstripe bodysuit by Marc Jacobs. The look included an intarsia bodice, printed with the pattern of an ocelot — a big cat native to the Americas.

“Personalizing your suit is a really big, key point to the theme and how that’s approached,” added the singer.

Regina King

Regina King graced the Met Gala steps in a bespoke suit that featured a large collar and meticulously structured lines. Adorned on the bodice was intricate angel embroidery, drawing inspiration from biblical narratives reimagined through the cultural lens of people of color.

The ensemble, created by Who Decides War, was not only beautifully crafted but personally significant for the actress. When talking to Good Morning America, King said the design on her bodice “means everything.”

“The woman always feels like the pulse of the earth, everything has to come through us. It’s connection to your ancestors. We are able to stand up, lean on them,” she shared.

Pharrell Williams and Helen Lasichanh

As one of the 2025 event co-chairs, Pharrell Williams was pretty much required to bring his A-game to the Met — and he did not disappoint. The musician designed his own sparkling double-breasted blazer made of 100,000 pearls, per Vogue. The look, made with the help of Williams’ team at Louis Vuitton, totaled 980 hours of work. He wore the piece over a white button-down and black tie. He kept the rest of the look classy, opting for a pair of black flared trousers and matching shoes.

Meanwhile, his wife Helen Lasichanh opted for a black leather corset top and tights with a Louis Vuitton branded pattern. She wore a dark blazer draped over her shoulder and carried a fur Louis Vuitton speedy bag.

Alicia Keys and Swizz Beatz

Alicia Keys knows the impact of a coordinating couples look. The musician and her husband Swizz Beatz appeared in stunning pinstripe ensembles custom designed by Moncler.

Keys teamed her red pinstripe suit with a matching beaded headpiece, plus a contrasting “Moncler-coded oversized down scarf” in a navy-and-red stripe. She also added a matching puffy shawl and black platform boots. On her décolletage, makeup artist Dotti applied a blend of the star’s Keys Soulcare Sacred Body Lotion and Let Me Glow Illuminating Priming Serum in Bronze Aura to give her skin a luminous finish.

Beatz’s suit featured the same colors as his wife’s stole. The rapper also opted for a red durag by Paul Richards and oversized black shades. He accessorized with a black tie and silver brooch.

Keke Palmer

Keke Palmer made her mark on the in a white Vera Wang gown with black tailored pants underneath. While speaking to red carpet livestream hosts La La Anthony, Teyana Taylor and Ego Nwodim, Palmer said that her ensemble was “a little masculine with a feminine tribute.” She also shared that the look was inspired by Dorothy Dandridge, the late musician and actress who became the first Black woman to receive an Academy Award nomination for Best Actress for the 1954 film Carmen Jones.

“I pretty much just wanted to inhabit the tailoring, but also the history of Black culture, fashion as a tool to enter spaces that often we’re not allowed,” Palmer said. “So that’s why I wanted to take the inspiration of Dorothy Dandridge. All the doors that she’s opened for us with fashion and beauty.”

Nicki Minaj

Nicki Minaj  put her own spin on menswear in a form-fitting Thom Browne dress. The look featured a wide neckline and bold white stripes, and a mermaid skirt with a thinner pinstripe pattern. A collection of ruffled flowers cascaded over her right shoulder and down her back.

Cynthia Erivo

Cynthia Erivo has never met a red carpet she can’t dominate. For fashion’s biggest night, the star wore a show-stopping custom look by Givenchy by Sarah Burton consisting of structured jacket and corseted bodice covered in red floral beading. On the bottom, she wore black bloomers and a massive tulle skirt that allowed Erivo’s legs to poke out the front — revealing her massive thigh tattoo.

She topped off the look with a matching beaded handbag and black knee-high boots adorned with beads — plus, a manicure featuring pocket squares that took two days to create.

Per Vogue, the ensemble took 950 hours to make, with the embroidery work requiring over 43,400 Swarovski crystals, and demanding approximately 1,300 hours to achieve by 40 artisans.

Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra Jonas

Power couple! Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Nick Jonas enjoyed a glam date night at the Met Gala in coordinating retro-inspired looks tied to the event’s “Tailored for You.”

Chopra wore a matching white blazer and skirt with black polka dots. She topped off the Balmain look with a large, wide-brimmed black hat, matching gloves and a jaw-dropping Bulgari necklace that featured the 241-carat “Magnus Emerald,” which is “the largest faceted stone ever set by Bulgari, according to a release. (Bulgari diamond earrings and an emerald ring finished the ensemble.)

Jonas opted for a Bianca Saunders look — a long-sleeve, high-neck cream colored blouse with a scarf deteail. To complement, he cinched a high-waisted belt that matched his trousers. Two ornate brooches from Tiffany & Co. clipped to the belt added a touch of sparkle.

Sabrina Carpenter

Sabrina Carpenter turned heads in a pantless Louis Vuitton bodysuit featuring glittery buttons and a lengthy train. She told Vogue that Pharrell Williams, who serves as Louis Vuitton men’s creative director, designed the look.

“I’m such a massive fan of Pharrell’s and have been to the show and I was just like, ‘If I could go this year with him, that would be my dream.’ And it came true,” she said, adding that it was Pharrell’s idea to ditch the pants.

“He was like, ‘You’re quite short, so no pants for you.’ So here we are. Here we are,” she said.

Cardi B

Green goddess! The rapper hit the Met Gala steps in a luxurious Burberry suit created by Daniel Lee. The textured outfit was an ivy color, a perfect match for her green contacts and eyeshadow.

Underneath, the star wore a silk devoré shirt with ruffled accents at the neckline and cuffs, complemented by green velvet tailored trousers that matched the coat. The look even featured a cutout in the back, showing off the musician’s floral tattoos.

“For Cardi’s look, we liked the idea of a tailored, feminine dandy,” Lee told Vogue. “Cardi gives main character energy, and her look reflects this.”

Kendall Jenner

Jenner put a feminine spin on menswear in a custom Torishéju look featuring a plunging neckline and a floor-length skirt. She added some sparkle courtesy of a multi-strand diamond necklace and matching drop earrings.

Per a release, the design was inspired by Gladys Bentley and other 1920s Harlem Renaissance women, with designer Torishéju Dumi sharing, “This look is deeply personal to me, as it expresses the versatility of Black Dandyism and tailoring and what it means to a black British woman. It challenges preconceived notions of how one should dress or design based on their gender, race or background.”

Kim Kardashian

A Met Gala mainstay, Kim Kardashian knows how to take her moment in the spotlight. This year, she turned heads in a crocodile leather off-the-shoulder two-piece set by Chrome Hearts with an open back and long train. She accessorized the look with strings of pearls hanging by her waistband, a multi-strand diamond necklace and a large leather hat.

Gabrielle Union Wade and Dwyane Wade

For their glamorous Met date night, the couple coordinated in elegant black-and-white custom Prada looks. Union opted for a black strapless gown, featuring a long white flowing train that connected at and accentuated her hips.

Wade wore a classic formal suit featuring an embellished vest underneath a white blazer. He finished the look with black pants and matching shoes. His fingernails were even painted with coordinating green, black and silver.

Law Roach

Since the image architect announced he was returning to styling, he’s been peak busy. For the Met Gala not only did he partner with Burberry to collaborate on looks for its guests, he went to the main event as well in a crushed velvet suit from the label, as well as accessories sourced from eBay.

While hairstylist Tai Simon helped him debut a blonde pixie using Redken and Bumble and bumble., makeup artist A. Love amped up the fashion guru’s radiance with e.l.f. Cosmetics Halo Glow Liquid Filter.

Imaan Hammam

Model Imaan Hammam commanded the Met Gala steps in a white jumpsuit with structured shoulders and wide-leg trousers. She also wore a polka dot tie, dramatic feathered hat and carried a cane.

Shaboozey

Shaboozey made his Met Gala debut a cropped suit jacket and matching pants with a wavy design. Underneath, he wore a black collared tank with lines of turquoise beads draped across his torso. On top, he opted for a slanted, wide-brimmed black hat. He teamed the look with David Yurman jewelry, and even sported turquoise grillz for an extra pop of color.

Gigi Hadid

Gigi Hadid was a golden goddess in a sequined custom Miu Miu gown and glamorous Victory Roll hairstyle, courtesy of stylist Gabriella Karefa-Johnson, according to Vogue.

The model told the outlet that the look was inspired by the work of Zelda Wynn Valdes, an American designer who helped transform the style of the female silhouette over the years.

“[Gabriella] thought of so many ways to interpret this theme,” Hadid shared. “The dress is a celebration of Zelda. This is a dress, maybe she would have designed for me, combining both tailoring and glamour.”

Pusha T

Pusha T took the red carpet in a double-breasted Louis Vuitton maroon pinstripe suit with glittering embellishments creating an ombré effect around the shoulders of the jacket.

Halle Berry

Halle Berry made her return to the Met Gala in a sheer-and-black-striped gown designed by LaQuan Smith.

The scoop-necked creation featured a combo of sheer mesh fabric with black embroidered beads, which Smith described to Vogue as “a mix of sexy Bond girl meets Harlem Renaissance.” She paired it with a cropped tuxedo jacket, Jennifer Behr veil and black strappy heels.

Mindy Kaling

Mindy Kaling looked glamorous as ever in a custom long-sleeve, fitted black gown by Harbison Studio, featuring a bold white collar and red velvet detailing. Down the length of her gown were big gold buttons of varying geometric shapes, with many smaller gold buttons lining her cuffs. Behind her trailed a slim train of white satin and red velvet fabric.

The actress, writer and producer wore her hair in a slicked-back ponytail adorned with gold clips to match her dress’s buttons. She sported a simple smokey eye and a nude lip, and completed the ensemble with gold drop earrings.

Jennie

BLACKPINK’s Jennie wowed in a black satin off-the-shoulder dress by Chanel. The look featured a voluminous skirt that revealed matching satin trousers underneath, as well as a white 3D flower, gold buttons and two strings of pearls draped across the bodice. The cherry on top was the star’s matching flat top hat.
