Chappell Roan made a bold and theatrical debut at the 2025 Met Gala, fully embracing the event’s theme, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” with a vibrant, disco-inspired ensemble. She wore a dramatic hot pink patchwork coat adorned with magenta tinsel and glittery fur trim, capturing the energy and flair of the disco era. Underneath, she revealed a sharply tailored stained glass–patterned suit, complete with a fitted blazer and flared pants that added to the retro glamor.
The look paid homage to iconic disco figures like Sylvester, aligning with the night’s dress code, “Tailored for You,” which encouraged attendees to showcase individuality through elevated tailoring. Her makeup, featuring shimmering metallics, chrome lashes, and rhinestone accents, further amplified the look’s maximalist and expressive spirit.
While some debated how closely the outfit aligned with the evening’s focus on Black dandyism, the collaboration with acclaimed costume designer Paul Tazewell brought depth and intentionality to the interpretation. With this daring fashion moment, Chappell Roan cemented her status as a rising star unafraid to make a statement.
