History was made today as Blue Origin’s New Shepard rocket soared into the skies of West Texas, carrying an iconic all-female crew—including global superstar Katy Perry, journalist Gayle King, aviation pioneer Lauren Sánchez, aerospace engineer Aisha Bowe, activist Amanda Nguyen, and investor Kerianne Flynn.
The mission, which launched just after 10 a.m. local time, was a complete success. The crew crossed the Kármán line—the internationally recognized boundary of space—soaring more than 62 miles above Earth’s surface. After experiencing several minutes of weightlessness and awe-inspiring views of the planet below, the capsule made a smooth parachute-assisted landing, greeted by cheers, tears, and a wave of global admiration.
Katy Perry emerged from the capsule beaming, declaring, “This was out of this world—literally. I’ll never forget this moment.” The pop icon had trained extensively for the voyage and was praised for her leadership and energy throughout the mission.
Gayle King described the experience as “the most humbling and exhilarating moment of my life,” while Lauren Sánchez, who co-piloted parts of the mission, said, “Today was a dream realized—not just for us, but for every woman who’s ever dared to look up and imagine more.”
Aisha Bowe, who made history as the first Black woman to fly on a commercial spaceflight with Blue Origin, spoke passionately about inspiring the next generation of women in STEM. Amanda Nguyen, known for her work in civil rights and space policy, called the flight “a symbol of unity, resilience, and the boundless human spirit.”
Investor and philanthropist Kerianne Flynn rounded out the crew, emphasizing the mission’s broader message: “This isn’t just a flight—it’s a movement.”
Today’s launch marks a pivotal moment in commercial space travel, women’s empowerment, and cultural history. The all-female mission stands as a powerful testament to what’s possible when courage, science, and sisterhood unite.
The sky was never the limit—today, they proved it.
