Kerry Washington took home the Outstanding Actress in a Motion Picture award for The Six Triple Eight at the 2025 NAACP Image Awards
Washington also gave her own speech at the ceremony, thanking her parents for teaching her “to dream.”
“They taught me to believe, and to pursue,” she said. “So here we are. Mom, dad, can you believe it? An actual star? You made a wish, and it came true.”
The 2025 NAACP Image Awards, held on Feb. 22 at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium and hosted by Dean Cole, honor Black entertainers who left an indelible impact on arts and culture in 2024. The Wayans family will be inducted into the NAACP Hall of Fame and former Vice President Kamala Harris will receive the Chairman’s Award.
