Taylor Swift arrived at the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards held at UBS Arena wearing Christian Dior Cruise 2025 Look 33 (Not available online) with Stuart Weitzman Ultrastuart Maverick 110mm Leather Boots ($1,232.00).
Taylor Swift has taken the plaids, checks and tartan trend to the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards red carpet. The singer attended the ceremony in Elmont, New York on Wednesday wearing a printed Christian Dior gown from the label’s resort 2025 collection.
Swift’s high-low look consisted of a taffeta tartan corset and flowing train featuring a bubble hemline. She also added on a pair of high-waisted velvet shorts. The “Tortured Poets Department” artist accessorized with fingerless elbow-length leather gloves and matching Stuart Weitzman thigh-high boots, completing her look with 30-carat yellow diamond and black jade earrings by Lorraine Schwartz.
Swift’s longtime stylist, Joseph Cassell Falconer, dressed her for the occasion. Falconer, who’s worked with the singer for over a decade, also curated her “Eras Tour” wardrobe.
Swift has already received her first award of the evening, winning Song of Summer for her track “Fortnight” featuring Post Malone.
“There is a very clear reason why Post Malone is everyone’s favorite person to collaborate with,” Swift said of the singer in her acceptance speech. “That’s because you are so ridiculously talented, so versatile… so unfailingly polite. It has taken forever to get him to stop calling me ma’am.”
On Tuesday, Swift announced her endorsement for Kamala Harris in the 2024 presidential race, describing her as a “steady-handed, gifted leader” who can lead with “calm, not chaos.”
“I will be casting my vote for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in the 2024 presidential election,” she wrote on Instagram. “I’m voting for Kamala Harris because she fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them….I was so heartened and impressed by her selection of running mate Tim Walz, who has been standing up for LGBTQ+ rights, IVF and a woman’s right to her own body for decades.”
Plaids, checks and tartans are trending for fall. WWD’s Alex Badia noted that several high-profile labels, including Chloé, Dior and Burberry, incorporated these heritage prints in their most recent collections.
The MTV VMAs recognize the year’s best music videos, artists and songs. Megan Thee Stallion makes her hosting debut during the 2024 ceremony, held at the UBS Stadium in Elmont, New York on Sept. 11.
