Da’Vine Joy Randolph wore a glamorous yellow gown by Sophie Couture, styled by Wayman and Micah. According to Zanna Rassi, Randolph was inspired by Grace Jones and 90s fashion.
Randolph was nominated for best guest actress in a comedy for her role as Detective Donna Williams in Only Murders in the Building. Though she lost last weekend (the category was announced at the Creative Arts Emmys), she’s still in attendance at the Emmys tonight as a presenter, and to support Only Murders
It’s been a big year for Randolph: In March, she won her first Oscar for her performance in The Holdovers. “For so long, I’ve always wanted to be different, and now I realize, I just need to be myself. And I thank you. I thank you for seeing me,” she said in her moving acceptance speech.
She joins an elite group of actors nominated for an Emmy and an Oscar in the same year: this year, that group included Lily Gladstone, Sterling K. Brown, Ryan Gosling, Jodie Foster, and Robert Downey, Jr.
