“Great minds,” Olivia wrote on her post. “If you’re gonna twin with anyone, make it @margaretzhang.” Margaret’s response? “CUE THE STRINGS.”
Olivia’s gown—with design details courtesy of Vogue—turns out, it was actually designed by Chloé’s current designer Gabriela Hearst, who said, “What I loved about the original design was the musical inspiration of it and the surrealistic touch on it.”
“There was something quite timeless that we could bring back to the Met Gala in 2023. We made it a gala dress instead of a cocktail dress, and I think it worked beautifully,” she continued, explaining why she made the choice to alter the original cocktail dress’s length.
Despite both celebs taking a cue from Lagerfeld’s 1983 design, they each made it their own and looked beyond *chef’s kiss* walking the steps of the museum.
