The Princess of Wales visits Oxford House Nursing Home to meet with staff and residents and hear how delivering high-quality, patient-focused care is at the centre of the home’s work in Slough, Berkshire, UK, on the 21st February 2023. 21 Feb 2023
In honor of the day celebrating the breakfast food and the day before Ash Wednesday, the Princess of Wales remixed navy and camel pieces from her wardrobe, including a camel coat by Max & Co, navy block heel pumps by Emmy London and a blue bag by Polène Paris. She also wore a navy turtleneck and navy trousers. She accessorized with a crocodile embossed belt, a bejeweled ring and blue and gold statement earrings.
To mark Shrove Tuesday — the day before Ash Wednesday, also known as Fat Tuesday, Mardi Gras or Pancake Day — the royal joined residents in a pancake-making activity. Kate laughed when the pancake in her flying pan became stuck, using a spatula to separate it and then get it a little flip.
“I’m sorry,” the Princess of Wales told one of the people helping to make the pancakes, according to a video shared on Twitter by The Sun‘s Matt Wilkinson. “I haven’t done you justice.”
Despite a little struggle with the pancake, Prince William recently praised his wife as a “very good” cook, and the couple have previously spoken about cooking and baking with their kids, Prince George, 9, Princess Charlotte, 7, and Prince Louis, 4. During Queen Elizabeth‘s Platinum Jubilee celebrations in June, the couple shared photos of the children making cakes.
Kate told a resident named Sheila that their family would be making pancakes together for the holiday.
“I either get pancakes stuck on the floor or on the ceiling, but the children are very well and we will be making our own pancakes this evening with the children,” she said, according to Isabella Perrin with the Bucks Free Press.
