Pregnant singer-actress Rihanna was honored with a statue at the Metropolitan Museum of Art for the Met gala 2022. New York City’s Metropolitan Museum of Art and American Vogue have paid homage to Rihanna with a digital statue of the singer and business woman.
Rihanna, who is expecting her first child with boyfriend A$AP Rocky, and is in her 3rd trimester of pregnancy did attend the Met Gala on Monday. However, she was honored with a marble statue which was unveiled at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. With a floral pattern from chest to toe and the baby bump being the highlight, the massive statue was quite close to the singer’s appearance. The singer took to Twitter and thanked the museum and Vogue magazine for paying her a historic tribute. She posted a glimpse of her statue in which she is seen flaunting her baby bump. “Shut down the met in marble! what’s more gilded than that? Lol! Thank you for this historic tribute! y’all bad for this one,” she wrote.
The statue recreated her recent Vogue cover pose and the form-fitting Alaïa bodysuit she wore that accentuated her baby bump. It was digitally displayed against the backdrop of other marble figures in the museum’s Greco-Roman galleries.
In January, Rihanna and her boyfriend, rapper A$AP Rocky, announced they were expecting their first child together.
While the couple were notably absent from the Met Gala on Monday evening, the organisers chose to honour the mother-to-be with a video of a special statue in the museum’s Greek and Roman galleries.
