Thursday, April 21, 2022 (Los Angeles, CA) – Baby2Baby, the national organization that was recently named #1 nonprofit on Fast Company’s World’s Most Innovative Companies List, welcomed hundreds of mothers and children living in poverty at an early Mother’s Day distribution event in Downtown Los Angeles, where they provided formula, diapers, hygiene items, clothing, groceries and more for low-income families that Baby2Baby serves. Baby2Baby Ambassador Jenna Dewan joined to distribute these critical items plus special Mother’s Day gifts to moms who have been devastated by the pandemic. Behati Prinsloo, Zoe Saldana and Desi Perkins were also on hand to volunteer and spend time with the families Baby2Baby serves.

Throughout the pandemic, low-income parents, in particular mothers, have been disproportionately impacted by COVID and have lost their jobs at record rates. Nearly half of the children Baby2Baby serves come from single-mother households. Many of the moms and children attending the event today became homeless because of the pandemic and are living in overcrowded apartments or in nearby emergency shelters.
The event was presented by ByHeart and Paul Mitchell who helped make the day possible, allowing Baby2Baby to distribute all of the basic essentials families need and provide a beautiful Mother’s Day experience after such a devastating two years.
“The mothers we serve have been struggling more than ever to get formula for their babies because we’re in the middle of a national formula shortage due to supply chain issues and recent recalls that have been particularly devastating for low-income families,” shared Baby2Baby CO-CEOs Norah Weinstein and Kelly Sawyer Patricof. “This event could not come at a more perfect time so we can celebrate hardworking moms and be able to give them what they really want–the essentials they need to keep their children healthy.”
“Every parent should have community support and access to resources and products that allow them to nourish their babies however they choose,” shared Mia Funt, President and Co-Founder of ByHeart, the baby nutrition company who just launched the first no-compromise infant formula: next-to-breast milk benefits meets certified cleanest ingredients. “When you become a parent, you also become part of this universal experience: though everyone’s circumstances are different, the wish to support other parents and to do better for babies becomes an integral part of who you are. We are incredibly honored to partner with Baby2Baby to support their work and to provide ByHeart infant formula to each of the families here today.”
“I’m grateful to the entire Baby2Baby team and the work they perform on a daily basis to deliver essential items to vulnerable children across the country,” shared John Paul Mitchell Systems CEO Michaeline DeJoria. “It’s an honor to support Baby2Baby on a personal and corporate level throughout the year, and it’s especially fantastic to celebrate all of the community’s mothers at this special event today.”
