Fashion is a ton of fun to get into, for a variety of reasons. One of our favorite things about fashion is the sheer variety of what is available, and just what you can do with it to make it your own. There are many aspects of fashion, but today, we are going to check out girl’s clothing, specifically girl’s shirts, in order to discuss how to pick out the right top.
What are the best girl’s shirts?
Answering which girl’s shirts are best is a somewhat complicated question, because honestly, it’s all subjective, isn’t it? Not only that, but how one defines a shirt is a little loose too. For the purposes of this article, a ‘shirt’ is simply defined as an article of clothing worn as a top. What feels right for one person may not feel right for another person, and vice versa. However, while there are no hard rules for picking out a type of shirt, that does not mean that there aren’t guidelines and recommendations.
Button-down
The button-down shirt is generally one of the shirts people usually consider the default shirt. These shirts are typically worn in a professional setting, but they do not have to be. They’re a great fit for women with fewer curves or with more narrow shoulders, owing to it being a tailored look instead of a loose style.
T-shirt
Next up is the t-shirt, which is probably the shirt that comes to mind for most people. Odds are, no matter who you are, no matter how old you are, you probably own at least one t-shirt. A huge advantage of t-shirts is that they tend to be comfortable and easy to wear, but that is not the extent of what t-shirts have to offer. T-shirts are more customizable than most other shirts, allowing you to wear a lot of your personality on your sleeve (and your chest).
Tube Top
Tube tops are nice, simple, and honestly, quite a lot of fun to wear. They use stretchy fabric, and can show as much or as little skin as you want (or, well, as much as the law allows you to show, anyway). Tube tops became popular in the early 1970s, where they were a common sight for fans of disco. Much like how disco never dies, neither do tube tops.
Tank Top
A tank top is the perfect choice if you feel like bumming around, whether that may be around the home or anywhere else. Essentially, tank tops are highly breathable shirts held up by only two spaghetti-thin pieces of fabric. On a hot summer’s day, this will be your savior.
V-neck Shirt
V-neck shirts are a great pick for women, particularly because they are flattering for many a body type, at least more so than a crew-neck shirt. If you want to make your v-neck shirt get some extra mileage, you would do well to pair it as a layer under heavier clothing. When paired with a vest, you still get the feminine look of your v-neck shirt, while sporting the dapper look that a vest gives you.
Sleeveless Shirt
While a tube top and tank top can both be described as a “sleeveless shirt,” this one is specifically known as a sleeveless shirt. A sleeveless shirt and a tank top both have some shoulder coverage, but the difference is that the coverage from the straps on a tank top is much thinner than with a sleeveless shirt, which has coverage to the end of your inner shoulders. Sleeveless shirts are great for warm weather, and go well with other clothes if you use a sleeveless shirt as an inner layer, such as good girls polo shirts.
Blouse
One of the advantages of going with a blouse is that blouses are rather adaptable and look good on just about anyone, no matter how tall or wide they may be. Blouses do a good job of emphasizing the aspects of yourself that you like, while taking emphasis away from aspects of yourself you are not as keen about.
Tunic
One of the best aspects of a good tunic is how adaptable it is. It is a shirt, don’t get us wrong, but depending on the length of the tunic, you may be able to let this flowing piece of clothing work as a dress instead (and a downright stylish dress at that).
Turtleneck
Turtleneck shirts are highly varied, allowing you to enjoy ones of many colors, fits, prints, fabrics, and shapes. Where a tank top will do you well during the summer months, the winter months crave a good turtleneck to keep you warm. Some turtlenecks are warmer than others, so if the weather is fluctuating, having a wide variety of turtlenecks for your comfort will do you a great service. Turtleneck shirts are great on their own, but they are also great as far as layering goes.
