The theme this year is “American Independence” and is inspired by the Costume Institute’s exhibition, Part One—In America: A Lexicon of Fashion. The theme is meant to “celebrate The Costume Institute’s 75th anniversary and explore a modern vocabulary of American fashion,” according to Vogue and exhibit organizers.
The celebrity co-chairs for the gala are Timothee Chalamet, Billie Eilish, Amanda Gorman, and Naomi Osaka.
