CHANEL And Tribeca Festival Screening Of Julian Schnabel’s Remastered Film, “Basquiat”
On Thursday, June 17th, CHANEL presented the 25-year anniversary screening of Julian Schnabel’s remastered film Basquiat, at The Museum of Modern Art in New York City. Basquiat was first released in 1996 and tells the story of world-renowned New York street artist, Jean Michael Basquiat as he struggles with fame, drugs, and his identity. The screening was the culmination of Tribeca Festival and CHANEL celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Art Awards. As part of the celebration, they released a project, Art is New York / New York is Art, which illustrates the depth of love and loyalty among the artists for their stomping ground. The following artists contributed to the project: Julian Schnabel, Kiki Smith, Nate Lowman, Swoon, Chuck D, Matthew Modine, Christopher Walken, Donna Ferrato, Aurel Schmidt, Kalup Linzy, Don Gummer, Sophie Matisse, Dustin Yellin and many more.
