.Duchess Kate and Prince William show their support for Mental health Awareness Week with three personal engagements in Wolverhampton on May 13th. Kate performed for local organizations, including The Way Wolverhampton Youth Zone’s first stop, followed by a trip to Base25 . The Duke and Duchess attended the annual week of activities designed to raise awareness of mental health issues and the opportunities to achieve good mental health. (In the US, Mental Health Awareness Week is in October.) This year’s theme is focused on nature.
More specifically, “…the important role it can play to help improve mental wellbeing, as well as its power to prevent or aid recovery from poor mental health” per Kensington Palace. The Mental Health Foundation’s campaign has two goals:
- Firstly, to inspire more people to connect with nature in new ways, noticing the impact that this connection can have for their mental health.
- Secondly, to convince decision-makers at all levels that access to and quality of nature is a mental health and social justice issue as well as an environmental one.
The Cambridges started the day at The Way Youth Zone in Wolverhampton.
