The Late Selena Quintanilla was  Honored With Lifetime Achievement Award  at the 63rd Annual GRAMMY Awards at Los Angeles Convention Center on March 14, 2021 in Los Angeles, California.

According to the Recording Academy’s description: “The Lifetime Achievement Award celebrates performers who have made outstanding contributions of artistic significance to the field of recording.”

Tejano won the Grammy for best Mexican/Mexican American album for Live! in 1994, marking the first time a female Tejano artist had won in the category.

“In 1994 hours before the 37th Annual Grammy Awards held in New York, Selena was with her sister Suzette having her hair styled in what would become one her most iconic timeless looks. This was Selena’s first Grammy experience and she was very excited,” said the post with never-before-seen photos.

“Selena took her camera with her so she can take pictures w/ other artists there. However, they didn’t allow her to bring her camera with her but she jokingly said, ‘They didn’t allow me to bring my camera with me, however, I left with this”, holding her Grammy in a 1994 interview.’”

Quintanilla’s widower, Chris Perez, also shared his excitement on social media.

“Lifetime Achievement Award! To say that I’m proud of all that Selena represents and so proud of her accomplishments would be a HUGE understatement,” he wrote on Facebook. “Special thanks to the Grammy organization and especially all of you (her fans) that continue to listen, watch, and support all the amazing things she left behind for us to treasure. I’ll be watching the awards tonight with the biggest smile on my face…just knowing that she’d be so honored… AND HAPPY!”
