Tennis champion, Naomi Osaka, has been named Louis Vuitton‘s latest brand ambassador. She is the face of the French luxury brand’s spring 2021 line.
Naomi Osaka has signed a 7-figure brand ambassador deal with Louis Vuitton. Through existing endorsements, Osaka made over $37M last year — becoming the highest-paid female athlete ever at 22 years old. Born in Japan, Osaka has become a global superstar.
The announcement comes just months after Osaka won the US Open. 2020 was a successful year for Osaka, as Forbes named her the highest-paid female athlete and Sports Illustrated named her the Sportsperson of the Year. At only 23 years old, she’s won 3 Grand Slam titles.
Louis Vuitton is also not Osaka’s first high profile endorsement deal. She also represents Nike and Shiseido among at least 15 other brands.
Osaka also known for her activism on the US Open court, where she ultimately won the championship, Osaka featured names such George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, Trayvon Martin, Breonna Taylor and Elijah McClain on her face masks throughout the tournament in support of the Black Lives Matter Movement.
In a statement, Nicolas Ghesquière, Louis Vuitton’s creative director said, “Naomi is an exceptional woman who represents her generation and is also a role model for everyone. Her career and convictions are inspiring. I am in awe of Naomi, she stays true to herself and doesn’t compromise on her values.”
