Kelly Rowland and her husband, Tim Weatherspoon, are expecting their second child. This means soon to be 6-year-old Titan is going to be a big brother.
The singer, who says she’s “knocking at 40,” announced the exciting news on the November cover of Women’s Health magazine.
“We had been talking about it loosely, and then COVID happened, and we were just like, ‘Let’s see what happens,’” Kelly says of how she and her husband of five years planned to expand their family.
Kelly admitted she was a little hesitant about sharing the news, with the global pandemic, race protests and other happenings going on across the country. Not to mention, fans have been awaiting the follow-up album to her 2013 album, Talk a Good Game. In April, Kelly released her sexy single, “Coffee,” as an ode to Black women.
“I was thinking, ‘Oh my god, my fans are gonna be so disappointed. They wanted an album first, but they got a baby!’” Kelly says. “And I was like, ‘I have to figure this out, so they get both.’”
Kelly says this album will speak to the personal experiences that make her whole, including her 2018 reunion with her biological father, whom she hadn’t seen in 30 years.
“I’m learning so much about myself and the things that I missed,” she continued. “You say, ‘I’m fine, I’m fine,’ and yeah, I’m fine, but there are things I would have liked to have experienced from a father.”
“I like to touch on everything,” added Kelly. “I want it to feel very organic, coming from me.”
