Tennis superstar Venus Williams is back with a brand-new and exciting launch. EleVen by Venus Williams is a fashion-forward activewear brand. On Thursday, Williams revealed a new collection of athletic wear in collaboration with Wonder Woman – the EleVen by Venus Williams x Wonder Woman collection. Venus is a fan of the pop culture icon, Wonder Woman. The limited-edition collection includes athleisure pieces like cropped tank tops, tennis skirts, windbreakers and a catsuit embellished with tiny gold stars. The clothing items feature detailing including custom gold foil Wonder Woman insignias and Swarovski crystals. The first part of the capsule collection launched on Thursday, August 13, 2020.
“Our EleVen customers and Wonder Woman have and always will be huge inspirations for me,” Williams said during an interview with People. “They are strong, fierce women who are highly motivated and compassionate. I wanted to channel their confidence and strength and design a limited-edition collection where everyone can experience what it feels like to be a superhero.”
“I want women to feel invincible and just as incredible as Wonder Woman when they wear this collection,” she said. “So, whether they’re rocking the catsuit or a pair of leggings, I want them to celebrate the superheroes that they are. Us women can take on anything we set our minds to, and a killer outfit just makes things even better.”
With the 2017 box-office hit Wonder Woman’s upcoming sequel, Wonder Woman 1984, just around the corner, and just 8 days away from DC FANDOME, the limited-edition EleVen x Wonder Woman collection is just in time.
Wonder Woman 1984 is set to be released on October 2, 2020.
Venus Williams has shown her appreciation for Wonder Woman before, and when she started her clothing line, EleVen, she mentioned that Wonder Woman is who she had in mind when she embarked on this endeavor. Her worlds collide this week as EleVen by Venus Williams announced their limited edition Wonder Woman capsule collection.
“I’ve been a superhero fan ever since I was a kid,” Venus tells Complex, “so having the chance to collaborate on a Wonder Woman x EleVen by Venus Williams capsule collection is a dream come true. This collection is a celebration of women’s strength and individuality, and my hope is that it inspires women to channel their inner Wonder Woman in every aspect of their lives.” It makes sense, as Venus’ line is all about the idea of “being the best version of yourself and challenging the status quo”. That sounds like something Diana, Princess of the Amazons herself would say.
