Zac Posen 3D Printed Dresses @ The 2019 Met Gala


Fashion designer Zac Posen works with GE Additive and Protolabs to create fashion pieces for the 2019 Met Gala using 3D printing.The Metropolitan Museum of Art theme for the Costume Institute for 2019: ‘Camp: Notes on Fashion’. Thetheme is inspired by Susan Sontag’s 1964 essay ‘Notes on ‘Camp’, which is widely credited to have introduced the notion of ‘Camp’ to the mainstream. 

Katie Holmes wore a purple custom-made gown made of 300 yards of hand-sewn coloured tulle has a 3D printed collar accessory in the shape of palm leaves

Deepika Padukone wore a pink metallic lurex jacquard dress includes 408 custom 3D printed pieces, which took 160 hours only to print.

Julia Garner wore a 3D printed headpiece design that took 22 hours to print.

Jourdan Dunn wore a Zac Posen rose inspired 3D printed gown of 37 petals which took 1,100 hours to be completed

Nina Dobrev wore a strapless custom 3D printed bustier which stook took 200 hours of stereolithographic printing, and wet hand sanding.
